beacon adhesives and marvy uchida

While working on plans for the workshop, I asked my friend Diane over at Beacon Adhesives if she would be able to send me some Fabri tac adhesive for one of our projects.  When I got my package yesterday, she sent enough adhesive that I’ll be able to give everyone who attends the workshop their own bottle.  So cool!  If you’ve never used Fabri Tac it’s like a glue gun in a bottle.  You’ll love it.

Also in the mail yesterday was a box from my buddy at Marvy Uchida.  He gave me several very large punches to give away.  Do you remember the post when I talked about my very favorite new punch, the button punch?  Well he sent several of those along too.  Things are coming right along for the workshop.  I have heard from a source yesterday, that I wasn’t getting some of my emails, so if you sent me an email signing up for the workshop and haven’t gotten a response from me, please send it again.

my lucky day

my lucky day

I don’t normally consider myself a lucky person.  Blessed?  Definitely.  But lucky as in winning?  Not normally.

Saturday, I had to help out at my son’s school carnival.  My shift helping in the school cafeteria was over at 6:00 p.m.  I had asked my son earlier to buy some raffle tickets for me, but, he didn’t have time.  (he was too busy having fun)  So after I got through with my shift, I sat down and started talking with some friends.  The drawing for all the raffle prizes were to be drawn at 6:30.  I decided at 6:15 that I should go and buy a couple of tickets.  So I went over and bought 6 tickets for $5.00, put my name on them and deposited them in various buckets.  Then I went back to my friends to visit some more.  Would you believe I was the second name called and I won a wonderful prize package called “Pamper Me Mom”.  What a wonderful surprise.  The prize includes a purse, lotions, gift certificates for a massage, tanning package, haircut, manicure, house cleaning, dry cleaning, make over, restaurant gift certificates and probably a few other things I can’t think of.  Wow!  I was on cloud nine.  I’m not sure which one I’ll use first.  What a lucky day!

scent with love

scent with love

I promised to post this skunk card a couple days ago.  (Where does the time go?)

I normally would not think about sending someone a skunk card.  But, he really is too sweet.  You know that person that’s a real stinker sometimes?  Wouldn’t that be a fun card to send.  If you go over to the Serendipity Stamps Blog www.serendipitystamps.com they have more ideas for this cute little guy.

I got an email yesterday from a lady in New York,  she asked me how we we’re doing around here, she was waiting for the next snow storm.  I’m so glad that I live in the Mid-west instead of the Northeast.   My husband grew up a few miles outside of Boston.  We went back a few years ago for his High School Reunion.  I’ll never forget all the people who’d ask where we were from and when I’d say Illinois they’d say “Wow”.  I never thought I’d hear the words Illinois and Wow in the same sentence.  Most of the ones that were there were from Mass., New Hampshire or Maine.  We’d actually been the ones who had traveled the furthest.  Too funny.  (not sure where this blast from the past came from)

Anyway, I got some of the new stuff for the next workshop this week.  Still waiting on a few more things.  I will work on some pictures this week-end and will (I promise) post the details early next week.  Still, don’t forget to save the date.

The next Sue’s Creative Workshop, Saturday, April 24th in Washington.

I’ve got some really cool project planned for this one.

Till then, Have a great Week-End!!!

Sue

spring anyone?

spring anyone?

Mr. Weatherman said last night we’ve had a total of 41″ so far this year.  (We can’t compare to the Northeast for accumulations but this is really getting old.)   So, just in case anyone’s feeling down.  I thought I’d show you this cute little chipmunk holding a daffodil.  He one of the new stamps from Serendipity Stamps www.serendipitystamps.com  Tomorrow I’ll show you the new skunk stamp.  (Yes, you heard skunk, he’s really cute.)

Happy Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine's Day

Since I’ve been feeling extremely uninspired lately, I decided to put everything else aside today and make a good old fashioned Valentine.  The first thing I did was cut a heart out of scrap paper, like we learned in grade school.  I traced the heart onto the music scrapbook paper.  Then I grabbed the red party streamers out of the cabinet, cut a strip and folded it in half length-ways.  I ruffled the Crete paper and glued along the edge of my heart.  I glued a second heart to the back of everything to reinforce the scrapbook heart.  Then I edged the heart with some real tiny red rick rack I picked up for a dime at the Mission Store.  (I love a good bargain)  I made the shiny red heart by punching several hearts from cardstock and glueing together.  I used red alcohol ink on aluminum foil and glued it onto my punched hearts to give it the look of a chocolate covered heart.  (it won’t spoil).  Next, I finished up my Valentine with some layers, ribbon, buttons and charms.  I may even give it to my hubby this coming Sunday.  I’m sure he’ll appreciate it.  (not!)  Here’s a close up view of the heart.

button heart and personal challenge update

button heart and personal challenge update

SE-S_button.jpg  One the my very favorite of the new embossed series punches from Marvy Uchida is this new Embossed Buttons Punch. (SE-S06 Buttons) You should know by now that I love using buttons   I love collecting buttons.  I have some buttons that I love so much, I could never use them on a project.  (I’m just funny that way)  That’s why I just love the idea of a button punch.  I can always find the perfect color, make as many as I want, layer them, mail them, and then be able to use them in upcoming classes.

The buttons make great centers for flowers without all the bulk.   All the  punches on the card are from Marvy Uchida www.marvy.com

The journaling card is from Jenni Bowlin, the scrapbook paper is from October Afternoon.

thought maybe one or two of you might be interested in how my personal two week challenge turned out. (scroll down for original post) Well, it was enlightening for sure.  The end of the first week, I ended up with only $10 left.  My husband ended up with $5.  By the end of the second week, I ended up with $50 and my husband with $25.  Now before you think “WOW”, I should also tell you that we did end up using the $50 gift card to Longhorn and I did end up spending $15 of mine on my hubby’s beer.  (Not to mention that last week, I was too uninspired to get out in the cold.)  Friday, was payday again, and we decided to continue on with this challenge.  It only works if we do it together.  (Don’t worry, I won’t be posting on this anymore, it’s boring.)

bugs and fairies

bugs and fairies

I’m not a prissy girl.  So, when Mc Gill asked me to make a fairy out of the new Dragonfly punch (due out this spring), I resisted.  Matter of fact, I did not want to do it.  It was the very last sample that I made for the new releases.  While pacing around, I came up with an image in my head, and made up this sample in just a few minutes.  It’s actually one of my new favorites.  Who knew I had a prissy side.

Now on to the bugs.  Last night it became official.  My youngest son and I both decided to be sick.  Both of us running close to 100 fever.  So, after some cold medicine and vegging in front of the t.v.  I decided to finally go to bed.  While in my bed room, I noticed a odd looking bug on my curtains.  This bug was nothing like anything I’d seen before.  The two attena’s were wierd, I softly blew on them and it moved.  Since my bug killing husband was not home, I decided to kill this bug on my own.  I grabbed a tissue, snuck up on the critter and attacked.  Of course, like anyone, I had to make sure it was dead.  But, to my surprize, when I opened the tissue, I realized, I had just killed a fuzzy.  Poor little fuzzy.  (Now, how’d it get up there?)  I’ll just blame it on the fever.

Feeling much better today, the sun’s out, the house is warm and my hubby’s coming home tonight.  I think I’ll just stay in today.

I saw sunshine today

I saw sunshine today

Something caught my eye today, it actually made me blink.  Could it be?   I saw sunshine!!! Did you see it too?  I don’t know what the official count is, but, it feels like it’s been weeks.

I’m so happy!  I told my son this morning,

“I need sunshine”!!!  (actually, I’ve been saying it for days)  SO, to celebrate the sunshine, I sending along for you a couple of flowers.  The card is one of the samples I did for Marvy Uchida using their new Embossed Flower Punches.  It is my favorite flower of the embossed series.  Don’t tell Marvy, but, Mc Gill’s buttercup flower punch fits perfectly underneath.  Another sample tomorrow.

my personal day

my personal day

Yesterday was the day I was supposed to take a personal day.  With the sky so gray and sleet in the air, (and my personal challenge, see post below) I decided to stay home and take it easy.  I wish I could report that I went out to lunch, shopping and got a manicure.  Everyone was either out of town, in school or at work.  I spent a boring morning of taking a nap, watching television, and clipping coupons, followed by a sinfully delicious, oh so bad for you plate of Super Nacho’s.  By 1:00, I was totally bored.  I can’t relax in a messy house.  So, I swept, mopped, vacumned the whole house.  (I am soooo boring!)  My son came home with a Mc Donald’s coupon from the prize patrol box at school, so

Mc Donald’s it was for dinner.   (hey, no cooking!)  I decided to have a quiet evening (limited computer and television).  I actually caught up on two magazines that I have been meaning to read.  I guess, all in all, it wasn’t so bad of a personal day.  Next month, I hope to do much better. (and eat better)
This morning, I’ve been busy adding NEW VALENTINE KITS to my Etsy Store www.suescreativeworkshop.etsy.com
